Local football team celebrate bronze medal success at Sikh Games 2026 football tournament

Alistair Strathern, the MP for Hitchin, met with the local Sikh Games competitors representing Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire to congratulate them on their impressive third-place finish in the football competition at the 2026 Sikh Games.

The Sikh Games, held annually and bringing together people of all ages from across the UK for a celebration of sport, teamwork, and community spirit, saw strong participation this year across a wide range of events. The football competition is one of the biggest events, drawing teams who train for months to compete at a national level.

The Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire-based team demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Their third-place result marks a significant achievement and reflects the hard work of the players and volunteers who support youth sport across the Sikh community.
